Free-form knitting & crochet has no rules. Color collides in a collage of texture and fiber. It can be wild and colorful or simple and elegant. My work is recent and always designed and fabricated 100% by me!
My Freeform includes 2 and 3-D, accessories, jewelry and often worked in crochet using recycled, silk, cotton or wool (my hand spun) with embellishments of beads and found objects.
When starting a work, I choose some colors that fit my mood, pick up a crochet hook or a pair of needles, cast on or chain a few stitches and am off on the adventure of total design freedom and fun. There are no patterns, no rules, and unintended patterns and become original design elements: and best of all, no swatching! In fact I mix as many crochet and/or knit stitches and yarn varieties as suits me at the moment, without fear of failure. Sometimes I have an inspiration but most often, I have no concept of the final piece in mind, until I am well into the process. Apart from a never-ending supply of materials, what more could a textile artist want?
Freeform yarn work is like doodling – the hook/needles are the pen and the yarn is the ink and paper. It is a timeless, meditative and often hypnotic process, which is organic, intuitive, and immediate. The outcome is an original piece of art like no other, not only functional, but beautiful art as well. I live and work in the Skagit Valley in Washington State and all of my yarn work is made a clean and smoke free environment; ready to ship to you.

2. Use a mild shampoo (that you use for your hair) like a baby shampoo or a very mild soap (Eucalan would be perfect if available).
3. Prepare a bowl of shampoo (about a tsp.) + water, shake the piece inside this mixture very gently for a few minutes (by using your finger tips) then rinse within a bowl of clean water by shaking gently.
4. Rinse as needed until the water is clear of soap
5 - Lie flat on a towel to dry. (not in the sun)
6. When it is dry, you can iron (lowest temperature) from the back side of the piece. Use a thin cotton fabric in between the iron and the piece.
Always store your piece flat in a dry, darker place. UV from the sun is very harmful to fibers over a period of time.
A copy of the appropriate detailed instructions will accompany your piece.
